And now, the long-awaited... "THEORY OF EVERYTHING" The Holy Grail of physics is found!
As Stephen Hawking opined in his famous book, A Brief History of Time, "...if we do discover a complete theory, it should in time be understandable in broad principle by everyone, not just a few scientists." Here indeed is that all-embracing final theory. It is simple and straightforward. It is for high-school kids and research scientists alike. It is a cause-and-effect exposition of our entire physical world of observation. It is NOT some abstruse or crackpot idea to replace Einstein's theory of general relativity and the many other such misconceptions that still plague physical science and warp the logic of everyday experience. Just as simply refute it AND COLLECT UP TO A MILLION DOLLARS! The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the status quo - are the ones who do. Think different. Think straight. We have the faculty. WE HAVE NOW ALSO THE CRITICAL HARD DATA. Read the book in the new light for the greatest conceptual breakthrough OF ALL TIME!
From the Back Cover
IT AIN'T NECESSARILY SO That's what the author says of present-day physics theories. The reader is hereby invited to say the same of the author's own simple alternative - the single, all-embracing theory outlined in the pages of this book - and be the richer for it, a millionaire perhaps!
In the opening chapter of his famous book, A Brief History of Time, Professor Stephen Hawking says: "Today scientists describe the universe in terms of two basic partial theories - the general theory of relativity and quantum mechanics... Unfortunately, however, these two theories are known to be inconsistent with each other - they cannot both be correct. One of the major endeavors in physics today, and the major theme of this book, is the search for a new theory that will incorporate them both - a quantum theory of gravity."
The search may now be called off - the theory has been found! The book here opens with a chapter introducing that ultimate theory of gravity. It is presented in simple terms as, perhaps, a high-school physics teacher would.
And in his closing chapter, Professor Hawking surmises: "However, if we do discover a complete theory, it should in time be understandable in broad principle by everyone, not just a few scientists."
This, too, cannot be any truer. In other words, the greatness and the elegance of the final theory will be reflected in its utter simplicity - which is this book. It is a piece of work that is simple and straightforward. It is a cause-and-effect exposition of the physical world around us. It is concise and to the point. It is logically sound and rooted in reality that is well established now. It is NOT some abstruse or crackpot idea to replace Einstein's theory of general relativity and the many other such misconceptions that still infest physical science and warp the logic of everyday experience. And the presentation is made in as plain a language as possible, with nothing abstract, ad hoc, or contrived.
The book is also intended for the general reader interested in science. The reader may skip all of the equations and journal references in the book and still get a good grasp of the overall concept, one that even outspans the quark and the quasar. Discover, for instance:
* How the Earth has stayed in orbit for billions of years without losing orbital energy under perturbations and spiraling into the Sun as present theory would require!
* What keeps the Moon in likewise stable orbit over our heads and drives also the tectonic plates under our feet to cause earthquakes and volcanic activities!
* What really killed the dinosaurs - and what could kill or decimate even us long before the Sun runs out of fuel!
* What triggers and powers the nova or the supernova!
* Why there is no such thing as a black hole or a magnetic monopole in our physical universe!
* Why, unfortunately, time travel will always be science fiction; you cannot, for instance, slow your aging by fast space travel - you will only be cheating yourself like going to the Moon to lose weight!
* How the time-honored Michelson-Morley Experiment - perhaps the most important experiment of all time in the history of science - which gave Einstein fuel to launch his theories in the abstract plane, now, most ironically, serves to settle the issue conclusively for the real plane ONCE AND FOR ALL!
* Why our tax money - in the billions of dollars - is generally a waste in basic physics research today. (Any genuine research team should censure this book openly before applying for the next grant!)
* Why the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) for nuclear fusion - a joint venture of the EU, Japan, Russia, and the USA due to its sheer cost - is fundamentally unsound and should be scrapped without delay!
* Why the model of the universe propounded in this book is required to correctly interpret the multi-billion dollar data that are now pouring in from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope - and those that are expected from the even deeper-penetrating and sharper "Son of Hubble" due for launch around 2005!
* The simple answers for such perennial mysteries as tornadoes, lightning, magnetism, latent heat, inertial resistance, centrifugal force, superconductivity - and even what keeps the thrown stone in motion!
* And, when all is said and done in science, why the concept of The First Cause, or God, though still beyond human understanding, comes definitely within human reasoning based simply on the logic of the observable universe.
However, with a basic knowledge of high-school physics, the reader can also critically analyze all of the arguments - and even try to denounce them as absurd.
Yes, E = mc^2. But derive it now - for the very first time - from first principles of classical mechanics! Yes, Lorentz transformations. But derive the underlying Lorentz-FitzGerald contraction factor, (1 - v^2/c^2)^(1/2), for the very first time, again, classical mechanically, and get also the ultimate perspective on space and time!
Or say it isn't so.
The author welcomes a refutation from any reader and offers hereby all his profits from this work - UP TO ONE MILLION US DOLLARS - to the first reader to successfully do so.
If the reader should find the overall model for our observable world propounded herein to be logically flawed or to be inconsistent with experiment or observation, she or he has only to show this to the satisfaction of a school, college, or university physics department head. Such a critical finding should be put in writing, with the concurrence of the physics head and endorsement by the principal or director of the institution, and sent to the author at: P O Box 16942, London N20 0WJ, UK. The author will only be too happy to award the money to the first eligible claimant. Any contest shall be resolved by a mutually acceptable third party. The author also welcomes all and any queries on the contents of the book. He will try to answer them personally. Meanwhile, happy reading and good luck!
The flat-earth, the geocentric, and the heliocentric societies before us were all thunderstruck. Brace yourselves - our time, too, is now up for yet another core-shattering bolt from the blue. It'll flatten the space-time warp, too! Or just as simply show - it ain't necessarily so.
