The Rise of the Superconductors
Editorial Reviews
Review
An excellent introduction to a fascinating area of condensed matter physics should benefit the novice and the experienced reader … . The authors deal well with the large amount of research in what has been one of the most intensively investigated areas of physics in the last 18 years.

Book Description
The Rise of the Superconductors is an ideological chronology of the science that has produced superconductors. Starting with the liquefaction of helium, the Meissner effect, the development of type II superconductors, and the impact of Bednorz and Mller's Nobel prize-winning research in high temperature ceramic superconductors, the authors recount the rise of Tc materials and organic superconductors, particularly in fullerene materials, which earned their discoverers the Nobel Prize for chemistry in 1996. Coverage includes the properties and behavior of superconductors and their impact on theoretical physics, Josephson effects, and large- and small-scale applications, and this book concludes with an international perspective on the current state of the art.
