Areas covered in the text include chemical thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, deflagrations, and detonations in premixed media, diffusion flames, ignition, flame stabilization, and introductory experimental optical diagnostics. The material is mainly introduced by example, rather than in abstract form. Mathematics is minimized and several problems are provided at the end of each subject area.
