Quasicrystals : Structure and Physical Properties
Editorial Reviews
Review
"The book is very useful as a source and a guide to finding the most important parts of the literature.... The editor and publishers must be congratulated on providing interested scientists with this very informative and time-saving book." (Guido Kreiner, Max-Planck-Institut für Chemische Physik fester Stoffe, Dresden, Angewandte Chemie + Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 5/04)
"This presentation of the authors most successful results is vital for the understanding of the current status of the science of this outstanding class of materials among intermetallic alloys." (Zeitschrift für Kristallographie, 2004, Band 219)
"The book presents a fresh understanding of quasi-crystals.... In the last five years, more than ten books with a similar title have been published and the present book is the only one that completely includes the newest results." (An Pang Tsai, National Institute for Materials Science, Tsukuba (Japan), ChemPhysChem, 2004, Vol. 5, No. 1)
Book Description
A comprehensive and up-to-date review, covering the broad range of this outstanding class of materials among intermetallic alloys.
Starting with metallurgy and characterization, the authors continue on to structure and mathematical modeling. They use this basis to move on to dealing with electronic, magnetic, thermal, dynamic and mechanical properties, before finally providing an insight into surfaces and thin films.
The authors belong to a research program on quasicrystals, sponsored by the German Research Society and managed by Hans-Rainer Trebin, such that most of the latest results are presented, including interesting new structures of the solid state.
