Electromagnetic Resonances in Nonlinear Optics (Advances in Nonlinear Optics)
Editorial Reviews
Book Description
This book is devoted to the numerous phenomena arising from the interplay between electromagnetic resonances and nonlinear optical interactions. These electromagnetic resonances are associated with surface plasmons or guided waves excited in nonlinear optical resonators such as prism or grating couplers, Fabry-Perot's, multilayer structures, etc. Topics covered include rigorous theories of diffraction by gratings in nonlinear optics, presented in a form ready for numerical implementations; the scattering matrix description in nonlinear optics leading to the phenomenological approach based on the use of poles and zeros; the leaky-mode formalism for planar and grating structures in linear and nonlinear optics and applications to spatio-temporal analysis of light interactions in nonlinear optical resonators, for example enhanced second harmonic generation, Kerr effect leading to optical bistability, and other behaviors.
